Marriage and Family: A Christian Criminal

March 27, 2013

Like so many of us this time of year, I've been thinking about this Holy week, the crucifixion of our Savior and HIS glorious resurrection.  As I was driving around today, I listened to an awesome message on the Cross of Christ (more on that later).  This particual pod-cast was about the people around the cross at the time of Christ crucifixion.  As I listened I was stirred by the comment:  My SIN...Christ solution!  Wow, think about that statement.  We all have a problem we can't fix but Christ can...and did.

In Luke 23:41-43 we see one of the criminals cry out to Christ "We are punished justly, for we are getting what our deeds deserve. But this man has done nothing wrong.”Then he said, “Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom" Jesus answered him, “Truly I tell you, today you will be with me in paradise.”

You see, the criminal hanging beside Christ reminds us all that because of the sin sacrifice of Christ, our deeds do not get what they deserve. We deserve death and separation from a Holy God.  But because of HIS great love, unending mercy and grace, he substituted HIS life for our sin. The suffering of Christ, the stripes upon his back, the nails in his body brought us healing. Remember, by HIS stripes you are healed. Yes indeed...my sin, your sin...Christ solution!

we want to encourage you to really visit the cross of Christ.  Remember what was done on your behalf...and if you would be so kind....leave your comments to this blog post and tell us ...

how has the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus changed your life?

what does the Cross of Christ mean to you?

what do you do to appropriately celebrate Good Friday and resurrection Sunday?

If you'd like to listen to the pod-cast I listened to today, here's the link.

His death, burial, and resurrection mean my very life to me! It is why I serve Him. Without Him, I would be nothing. I am filthy rags, but He has cleansed and redeemed me. With that, I humbly celebrate The Passover and sadly remember the pain He suffered for somone like me on Good Friday. I do not deserve it, but He did it anyway! Why do we call it Good Friday anyway? Resurrection Sunday is such a glorious celebration at our house because HE LIVES! I get fired up thinking about it! He Lives!!
