Marriage and Family: When you don't know what to do!

November 17, 2015

Today you will face and make many decisions, for some you will face many challenges and for others you will be overloaded and even overcome with the sense that you simply do not know what to do!  But we have good news for all of us, no matter what our days hold, no matter what decisions are in front of us, there are some answers for us all and here are 3 ways to help you make good decisions today

Scripture says:  "Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path"  (Psalm 119:105 NIV)

What a promise and provision from God.  He has made a way for us to migrate through this world, if we will but follow his Word.  Notice the Word of God does two things for you in this passage. First, it is a lamp FOR your feet - in other words, when you don't know the next step you should take, get in the Word of God and let God's Word be your source to know what you should do - seek God's WORD for WISDOM in your WALKING.

Secondly, the Word of God is a light ON your path - in other words, as you WALK, one step at a time...the WORD of God promises to continue to illuminate your next steps on the path.  You don't have to know the whole journey, you don't have to worry about the unknown, you don't have to know the outcome before you take the next step.  You just need to let the Holy Spirit through the Word of God guide you.  Do what you know the Word of God says and you will know what your next step should be.

So as promised, here are 3 ways to help you make some good decisions today.

1.  SEEK GOD FIRST - do not be guilty of being so consumed with your choices that you cannot be consumed with God today.  "But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well" (Matt 6:33) If you are reading this blog right now and you have not slowed down enough today to seek God first, stop right now and do that.

2.  DELIGHT IN HIM - as you seek God, don't rush it...don't let your "daily crouton" moment with God be all you think you need.  It won't be...you need to pause and delight in HIM.  "Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart." The word "delight"  means to be glad in, to merry over.  Is this your heart for Christ?  Today, experience the gladness of being his son or daughter, merry, celebrate, encounter the joy of his presence.

3.  TRUST HIM NO MATTER WHAT- you will never go wrong if you always go with God.  His WORD and his WAYS always work and you can trust them, no matter what!  Trusting Christ will be a call to relentless obedience and absolute surrender to the Word of God.  This has to be your source of choosing what to do, how to do it, when to do it...it is the guide for your every next step.  "The works of his hands are faithful and just;all his precepts are trustworthy." (Psalm 111:7)

So that today, in your going about your day, with the many decisions you will make, slow down enough to let the WORD of GOD guide your steps and guide your path by simply choosing to do the next right thing, taking the next right step with the Presence of God, the Delight of God and the Word of God as your guide!
